Interactive slot machine first step toward a connected casino

SAN FRANCISCO--This interactive slot machine with a dazzling 46-inch portrait touchscreen is easily one of the most eye-catching displays at the Intel Developer Forum Showcase area (aside from the yummy mini cheeseburgers). However, it is only a proof-of-concept for a "connected" casino where operators can offer a personalized experience based on the needs of the patrons and, at the same time, manage these towering machines remotely.

In a nutshell, this is an electronic gaming machine, point-of-sale, digital sign (the panel above the main screen), kiosk, etc. rolled into one. Of course, it'll come with the prerequisite handle, holder for a martini glass and Windows 7 operating system. No word on when we'll see one of these commercially, but representatives we spoke to said the technology is ready for commercialization. The only thing that's lacking is a willing buyer.
